Search area is very important in a website or even in a blog. This helps your visitors find what they are looking. When we set up a site our primary concern is how to get our target consumers’ attention and make them stay on our page. After that, search comes into play. When you finally get their interest they will surely find for more information about your goods or services. Site search helps them find the specific things that they want to know from you.

I agree that site search is must and your visitors can move around if you have an effctive sitesearch enabled. Although I presently do not have ecommerce site but it can also reduce the bounce rate and therefor eimprove your site’s importance in the eyes of Google.

I usually try to use the search option but it doesn’t bring up what I need, especially when I know what I’m looking for is there, but not accessible. I like going to the categories first, it helps me find what I need but its slower.
Question: Any ideas on how to set up categories and sitemap effectively?

Site search is also a great source of insight into the words people in your market use when looking for things (they may be different from industry terms) and in to market trends. I strongly recommend studying the Site Search Reports in Google Analytics, or the equivalents in other analytics systems. I’ve provided more on why and how to use those reports here:

Great post on the importance of site search. Many people would say your navigation has failed if people are having to use site search. in my opinion, people search for things in different ways, so adding the option of a site search is a must for large ecommerce websites.

Without search function your blog will looks like a wide jungle to your visitors…I am very agree that all blogs should have this function.
