Corporations are systematically taking over Open Source alternatives which were independent (or at least appeared to be).
All of us who value our freedom need to start identifying solutions free from Corporate control. Most likely in many cases we will have to create them ourselves and learn to protect them from infiltration and takeover.
FireFox may as well be Google and the latest version of Ubuntu – an Operating System I chose because I do not trust Microsoft – has a new version of OpenOffice emblazoned with the Oracle logo.
What do I mean by independent?
Here is the definition provided by The Free Dictionary by Farlex:
“Centuries ago, governments tried to control who said what in order to avoid rebellions from informed individuals who threatened to inform the masses.” Quote from Ignorance WAS Bliss.
Today, the plutocrats behind multi-national Corporations who control traditional media and most of everything else seek to take control of the Internet and reduce the influence of “informed individuals”.
It is IMPERATIVE that we make it VERY CLEAR that our target audience is ONLY the estimated 0.02% of the entire population who are like us!
WHY WE ARE NO THREAT to the Plutocracy:
We are NOT interested in converting the masses – which as they should know is impossible at any rate. Only people and business owners like us will understand what we do or discuss – and those that do are part of that tiny 0.02% already.
They can never convert us and keeping us from talking to each other is futile so why not just agree to disagree? We WILL always find a way online or off.
We know you control almost everything but you will never control us because the Truth has set us free.
As Norman D. Livergood so aptly wrote in Completing the American Revolution:
“Americans are conditioned to see our present form of government as a representative democracy. We’re almost incapable of understanding that:
- We live in a plutocracy
- The United States Constitution was deliberately constructed so that the nation is ruled by the wealthy
What is true for America is true for Britain, the U.K., and every other country. There is one plutocracy that controls the money supply and therefore the governments, corporations and businesses everywhere.
I propose that those of us who understand these Truths concede 99.8% of everything to the plutocracy and claim our 0.02%. Let us agree to disagree with the rest of the world on this subject.
That will provide us with the best chance that the plutocracy will allow us to “live and let live” – and it benefits them too. Wouldn’t they rather let us quietly do our own thing than have us leading the nullification movements against Real ID and mandatory insurance?
There is no reason they should really care what we do as long as we have no interest in undermining their control over everyone else. Exempt us from what we are never going to agree to anyway and we won’t be leading your opposition.
ALL of us have free will and those under their control have accepted it and continue to be controlled by them by their choices.
We can not help them and attempting to do so is dangerous to our freedom. If it would work and were the right thing to do I would be the first to advocate we do it. It will not work anyway so there is no reason to risk it.
Remember this quote from The Matrix?
Morpheus: “The Matrix is a system, Neo. That system is our enemy. But when you’re inside, you look around, what do you see? Businessmen, teachers, lawyers, carpenters. The very minds of the people we are trying to save. But until we do, these people are still a part of that system and that makes them our enemy. You have to understand, most of these people are not ready to be unplugged. And many of them are so inured, so hopelessly dependent on the system, that they will fight to protect it.”
They had this partly right. We should NOT try to save them. Those who can see will save themselves.
Those who can not have been conditioned to see us all as their enemies to be turned in to the authorities for every little thing. Trying to save them is dangerous to our continued freedom.
Who among us could have ever imagined that the world they created would actually be like living in that ridiculous future portrayed in the 1975 movie Rollerball? Remember the media spin in that movie? Very true in “real life” too.
All entities controlled by the Plutocracy only create the illusion of competition. They are operating from a joint playbook. Collectively, I refer to them as “The BORG” and treat them as one power. IMHO you should too.

I like your post…its a different one to go through..however i don’t agree totally with your perception.
i always enjoyed when reading your blog comment and also like posts are posted by you.
thanks
Interesting article. But it seems that the “system” was always connected to the mankind history. There was always something above human monitoring and controlling it. However (I like your Matrix citation) we are able to get out of the system (and the history also knows such examples). But as you know such individuals were never understood by the rest of mankind.

Hi Cristopher,
Although appearances have changed substance has not. Life today is no different than it was during the Roman Empire.

Hi Nick,
No, I believe we all have free choice. Nothing compels us to take the bait except our own weaknesses.
What is often the case is that those of us who see a need will have to create it because it may not exist yet.

This is not a new concept. Big Brother has been watching since the first village was created and someone decided they were the boss and wanted to control everyone else. I think the trick is to live your life using their stuff as much as they might want you. It’s all about balance.

Hi Nicola,
I agree, this is decidedly NOT new. Those who want power are trapped in the system. We CAN walk away and many have.

Going to throw in a quote too, from Neuromancer:
“Cyberspace. A consensual hallucination experienced daily by billions of legitimate operators, in every nation, by children being taught mathematical concepts… A graphic representation of data abstracted from banks of every computer in the human system. Unthinkable complexity. Lines of light ranged in the nonspace of the mind, clusters and constellations of data. Like city lights, receding…” – Gibson
There we have it, the explination of it all. We all use the net for our own purpose, programs for our own purpose, we can try to get everyone “on board” but this can only come from within each of us.
It’s distilling the “how” and “why” mentality – don’t force people, show them their choices.
Question.Everything.

Hi Murray,
Yes – each of us must choose our own path. Question. Everything. is a very good beginning point.

It’s true that only those who see what’s going on will “save” themselves in whatever way is meaningful to them. Unfortunately, among the many who do see, few apply their own wills to make such personal changes. None of this is anything new. It’s been going on for five thousand years. People feel obliged to go along with their own “true gods”, the ruling elite, the real organized crime. For fear of what might happen. For fear of what others might think. For fear of some religiously inspired disaster in some religiously fantasized afterlife. (“Suffer now and you can have everything when you are dead.” Holy smoke!) Or my favorite, “just do your job”, or “look everybody, I am doing my job.” As more people realize these things, one might consider investing in the vomit bag industry. ^-^ Tommy

There you are! I’ve been thinking about you. I just tried again to review your book at Amazon but it will not let me because I have not bought any books using my new email address yet.
I love your book and am remiss at not knowing if you’ve published the next one yet or not – I’ve simply been so very busy. I highly recommend Tommy’s book to my readers. Here is my review from StumbleUpon:
“Tommy wrote the book Toyko Twins which has one of the most brilliant endings I have ever read (and I read constantly. Before the Internet I read about a book a day.) Now I mostly read online – and you can read his awesome book plus the sequel online too.
I am honored to know Tommy and invite you to “meet” him here too. And do read his book. It really is exceptionally insightful.”
You don’t make it easy to find you online, Tommy. Drop me a note on GrowMap StumbleUpon or a Tweet or an email (address on my contact tab on this site)?
If you check out my Word of Mouth Marketing post you’ll have an idea what I’ve been working on.

Thank you, growmap, for your kind note. I should say, however, that book two of Tokyo Twins is not yet completed. And I am not serializing the completed chapters as I did with Tokyo Twins Book One. That said, I am just blown away by what you have established here, growmap. Keep up the amazing work y’all are doing.
