Why You Do NOT Want ALL Traffic

August 20, 2008 · 6 comments

Contrary to popular opinion, more traffic does not automatically equate to more conversions. Visitors who are not your targeted buyers will do nothing for your bottom line and can cost you time and money. Here are some reasons you do not want all the traffic – only the right traffic:

  • Hosting bandwidth charges
  • Long distance and toll-free phone costs
  • Time required to respond to chat, email, and phone requests

Avoid wasting your time and money on get rich quick traffic schemes such as these:

  • Buying junk traffic
  • Traffic exchanges
  • Paid to surf schemes
  • Online classifieds not targeted to your buying audience

These simply do not work. While some of them will send many visitors to your site, they will not convert.

Twitter: @GrowMap

@Car Body Kit Your comment is a dofollow link to your site. You’ll want to add more content to your brand new blog first and visit more sites after that is done.

i would like to thank you for this post i agreed with you that the traffic issue is a tricky one so unnecessary traffic will not help you in growing up your business but i believe when you build your business step by step using the right ways the traffic will be your ally and your business will improve automatically.

@Beginner Bow: You are correct. The key is targeted traffic. Did you see our other posts on building niche Social Networking accounts? I’ll link one on creating a Geo or subject targeted Twitter account to the word GrowMap above. You could create accounts for people interested in archery and specifically follow them.

It is a great way to find related blogs and potential visitors or buyers. I’m working on a way to use that information to increase visitors to blogs. You may want to come back to read about it when I get it posted. As usual I am going to actually DO IT before I write about it.

I can’t agree with you more. This doesn’t just apply to Internet advertising but television advertising as well. If you are not reaching your target demographic, your message is being lost!
