DoFollow Lists of Blogs, Social Networking Sites and Forums; DoFollow Search Tool; Understanding Do Follow, No Follow

UPDATED Sep 24, 2011

A DoFollow site is one that allows the search engines to follow a link from their site to yours. This increases the number of incoming links to your site, increases the likelihood that someone will locate you when searching, and improves your site’s position in the search engines. We all have a limited amount of time so why not make it count?

Focus your NEW community building in blogs that believe in dofollow! Read about How KeywordLuv Benefits us All

  • DoFollow blogs are more likely to have really active and loyal communities and commentators
  • Bloggers who believe in Do Follow are far more likely to visit and comment in YOUR blog
  • They have a positive effect on your blog’s position in search engines like Google

Do remember to maintain your involvement in any active communities you’re already visiting and keep an eye out for quality blogs and visit them even if they are not DoFollow. Then use the DoFollow Tools linked below to find new places to participate.

The use of DoFollow and plugins like CommentLuv, KeywordLuv, Lucia’s Linky Love (anyone have a link that works or know if the Lucia’s Linky Luv plugin still works?) and others is growing so spend some time and select blogs that you will really benefit from interacting with because the content they offer adds value to what you do. Implement plugins that encourage conversations.

WARNING: Some blogs that Use CommentLuv and/or KeywordLuv are No Follow. We use the Highlight NoFollow links function in the  SEOBook Toolbar to verify them. We also recommend adding your dofollow sites to and and using this Verify Dofollow service.

Some blogs do revert to no follow because it does take a little more time to manage SPAM. The lists below will contain some blogs that are not still DoFollow but they are still valuable for locating blogs. You can usually use the SEOBook SEO Toolbar to instantly see whether comment links in a blog are dofollow or nofollow. (Some sites do block this function).

Or use the DoFollow Blog Search Engine to quickly determine if blogs are really Do Follow. You can also use that tool directly to search by keyword. It returns only those blogs that are confirmed to be Do Follow at the time of your search.

Hi GeekTool,

I approved your comment even though you put another link in it to use as an example of a better way to add links in comments. First I want to warn that some bloggers will automatically delete comments that contain any links and that includes some dofollow and CommentLuv or KeywordLuv enabled blogs.

I have no problem with commentators sharing relevant links in their comments and suggest that for maximum effectiveness for the site you are linking to that you take the time to learn how to create links with anchor text in them.

Instead of just using the URL put AFTER the URL and it will show up like this: Geek Tools

I recommend all those who leave quality, relevant links in their comments start doing this correctly. Save the entire string for your most linked posts so you can copy and paste them as you work. I put mine in a Tomboy Notes because one typo and your link won’t work and most blogs don’t have edit functionality yet.

The whole point of KeywordLuv is so you can choose the phrase and the link and don’t have to add the html to create your own links. If you just want to create one link all you have to do is put the page you want to link to in the Website field and the anchor text (best keyword phrase) you want to use in the name field like this:

YourName @ Anchor Text

That will link the page you put in the Website field from the words you put as your Anchor Text.

One of the more outstanding ideas someone has come up with – really in my eyes, when you have visitors writing well thought, and knowledgeable responses to articles, they too deserve some credibility – thanks!

My sentiments exactly. Glad to have you here and hope you’ll be a regular reader and commentator. See the comment below for our liberal “we love relevant links” policy.

DoFollow blogs and KeywordLuv Plug-Ins are great to have, as this increases the PR of site and also allows the Traffic on the site. I just love to use the blogs having KeywordLuv Plug-In.

Thanks

Hi Tanmay,

Many believe that avoiding dofollow and putting nofollow on links – or even refusing to link altogether – increase PageRank. While that may be true I believe that dofollow is best for the good of all and so is being generous with links. They definitely create a much stronger sense of community and far more comments.

Yeah nofollow links and blogs are garbage. I will not even comment on a “nofollow” blog, why help the blog site with content, if they give you jack in return? Thanks for the dofollow blog sir.

I have begun using keywordluv on my website, and it works really well. People write a lot of good content that gives me unique content and gives them a good backlink. A win-win for both sides. But beware, you will have to ignore / delete a lot of spam comments.

CommentLuv is amazing. I use it on all of my blogs and it really does increase the amount of REAL comments from readers, as there is an incentive for them to post. I like how you can post your name for a link. Thanks for the post.

Welcome Angie,

I love CommentLuv and KeywordLuv and we too use them on all our blogs. As long as a dofollow blog works to delete poor quality and spam comments they will find their commentators do leave good comments.

Since this blog is a learning resource I am more tolerant of weak comments left by those who are new to commenting or are not native English speakers than most. I hope my readers will understand that I would rather guide my readers to improve their skills than throw them out because their writing isn’t very strong yet.

This post has a separate section for dofollow forums and I just recently added a new directory specifically for finding forums. Do remember to read the TOS in each forum as they are usually less tolerant of links than dofollow blogs.

Hi Moon,

The other great thing about dofollow is that we get to interact with our fellow dofollow bloggers in many different posts and blogs. It is like visiting a business and knowing many people who are already there.

Not everyone agrees with dofollow but I feel it is good to make it easy for small businesses to get higher visibility. Nofollow links do still get indexed and there are many quality blogs that choose to be nofollow,

Although I do read and share many sites that are nofollow, more and more I have decided dofollow bloggers are where I will focus the majority of my time.

Hi Monika,

I see that you are doing SEO backlinking using comments. I know that can be a challenge when English is not your native language. Since I know you are a regular reader and you strive to leave better quality comments I hope my other readers don’t mind me keeping more than one sometimes.

Great list of lists. I’m getting close to 500 on my own listing. My site is strictly blogs but I have been thinking about setting up a resource section for other types of dofollow.

Linking to sites that have their own lists (such as yours) rather than keeping one of my own. It’s hard enough to keep up with blogs I doubt if I have the energy for any other lists.

Thanks

Hi Dwippy,

I just updated my DoFollow post to add a link to your lists. I still haven’t made the time to create a consistent process for using DoFollow tools or lists. What we each must do is find a way to compile a list for our niche and make commenting a regular practice.

You might check out the BackLinkReporter tool as one way to track comments. Maybe he would create a comment tracking tool that includes a way to indicate dofollow. commentluv, keywordluv and PR.

Thanks I have a number of links on my blog that links to yours. LOL Funny how that works out.

Since my niche is dofollow blogs I’m not terribly particular about what the niche of the blog is that I list on my site. Maintaining it is a pain but it’s not so bad if I keep the individual Page Rank pages split up into managable sizes.

I’ve been trying to catagorize things some but that’s a bit of a time consuming process as the list gets larger and larger.

Hello again,

Check out the search tools in this post. Many of them allow you to search by niche or have directories of different types of blogs. One thing you should be aware of is not everyone believes the same things about health and disease. Be sure that the blogs you comment in are interested in the same views as the one you are promoting.
